We began class with some notes over example problems illustrating our focus today, the order of operations. Our objectives are as follows:
1) List the order of operations to evaluate an expression with more than one operation.
2) Evaluate expressions without grouping symbols
3) Evaluate expressions with grouping symbols
4) Explain the difference between expressions based on order of operations
We graded the homework that was due for today as well as a worksheet that students completed in class over today's lesson.
Homework:(not due)

8/28/2007 Algebra 2-Rewriting Formulas
We began class today with notes over sections 4 and 5. Students then asked questions over the homework that was due today, then we corrected them in class. We grouped sections 4 and 5 together for our lesson today, with the objectives as follows:
1) Solve an equation with variables x and y for either x or y
2) Solve common formulas for different variables
3) Solve story problems by assigning labels, creating an equation and solving
We went over our notes, and then students completed a worksheet in class, which we discussed and graded afterward.
Homework:
pages 29-30 #'s 12-22 even (just solve for y), 24-29 all, 30-32 all ( no #'s), 40
page 38 #'s 18,20,21-23
We are roughly scheduled for a test over Chapter 1 next Friday.
