2 extra credit opportunities before 3rd quarter grades are final:
1) Visit this link, play around with the endpoints (you can just click and drag in the picture), and give me a half page write up of things that you discovered or found out.
2) Draw a segment in the coordinate plane (two endpoints). Calculate the distance between the 2 points. Then make a right triangle with the segment as the hypotenuse. Do the Pythagorean Theorem to find the lenght of the hypotenuse. Show your work and explain what you notice about doing the distance formula and doing the Pythagorean Theorem.
5 points per & you can do both.

3/8 Pre Algebra - Distance & Midpoint Formula
Today is our last lesson in Chapter 9, and we will be working with 2 new formulas: the distance formula and the midpoint formula. Students took some notes explaining the formulas and where they come from as well as some example problems of each. We worked through a few examples together and then they did a worksheet in class pratcing using the formulas. They spent the remaining few minutes working on the assignment due for Monday. Click here for some more instruction. Visit here to play around with the distance formula and midpoint formula.Homework:
p. 479-480 #'s 8-38 even, 43,44
The test will be Wednesday, the 14th. It would be a good idea to start organizing and reviewing your notes in preparation for the test.
3/8 Applied Geometry - Test Review
Today students reviewed for the Chapter Test (which is on Monday) by doing some review worksheets in class as well as organizing and reviewing their notes.
