5/15 Algebra 2 - Angles, Degrees & Radians

Our last lesson of the year today deals with angles. While most of our work thus far has dealt with acute angles in triangles, we will be introducing 2 ideas today, angles on the x-y axis and radians to measure angles in addtion to degrees.

5/14 Pre Algebra - Angles & Polygons

We will be doing our last lesson of the year today, focusing on polygons and their interior and exterior angles. We will be finding the sum of the interior angles of a polygon, finding one interior angle of a regular polygon and finding exterior angles of polygons. Students completed a worksheet in class and then worked on the assignment due for Wednesday. We will be reviewing and testing on Wednesday. We will begin out final review Friday and the final for Pre-Algebra will be Thursday May 24th.

5/14 Applied Geometry - Final Review

We will doing some light review work at the beginning of the week and hitting it a little harder in class at the end of this week and Tuesday of next week. Today students will be doing some crosswords with terms, defintion, theorems and a few calculations. On Friday, we will review as a class and work on our normal review sheets that we would before any test. The second semester test for Applied Geometry is Thursday May 24th.

5/10 Pre Algebra - Parallel Lines & Transversals

Today we continued our work with angle pairs. Today we will be looking at angle pairs when we have parallel lines and transversals. The angle pairs we will be studying are corresponding angles, alternate interior angles and alternate exterior angles. Students will do a worksheet in class and then an assignment due on Monday.

5/8 Pre Algebra - Classifying Pairs of Angles

We will start our final unit today, focusing on pair of angles. We will define supplementary, complementary and vertical angles. You can play around with the vertical angles here at this website. Students will be taking notes over some example problems and then using thos examples to complete a worksheet in class and then another assignment.

5/7 Algebra 1 - Chapter 10 Test

Today we will be taking the Chapter 10 Test

5/7 Algebra 2 - Trig Functions

Today students will begin the last unit, a short unit on trigonometric functions. For students moving on to advanced math next year, this will help build a foundation for most of your work in that class. You will be analyzing different uses and applications of the trig functions, but this unit wil acquaint (or reacquaint) you with the basics. There are 3 main trig functions, sine, cosine and tangent. We will show you today how the apply them to right triangles. To see some other video examples, click here. To do some extra interactive work with the trig ratios, click here.

5/4 Pre Algebra - Chapter 12 Quiz

Students took a quiz over the 3 sections of Chapter 12.

5/4 Applied Geometry - Inscribed Angles & Equations of Circles

Today we will finish up Chapter 11 and our study of cirlces. Our first section finishes up our study of angle realtionships in circles, inscribed angles. The second section gives the equation for a circle in the coordinate plane. To see some video examples of the inscribed angles problems click here. 5/2 Applied Geometry - Angle & Segment Relationships in Circles

We've got some catching up to do, since the tests cancelled class last week and I was absent on Monday, so we will be learning 2 sections today, continiung with circles. Our first lesson deals with angle relationships in circles, and you can see some video examples of these problems here. Our second section deals with segment realtionhsips in circles, and you can see some video demonstrations of those at this link. You can also visit the following links to play around with inscribed angles, angles with vertex outside, and angles with vertex inside.
