4/17 Algebra 1 - Solving Polynomials in Factored Form

Today we started to move towards solving quadratic equations by factoring. We looked at polynomials in factored form and gave their solutions. It is a fairly simple concept. For example, the solutions to (x-3)(x+4) = 0 are x=3 and x=-4. You simply switch the signs. For (2x-6)(4x+8)=0, the solutions are x=3 and x=-2. You switch the signs of the numbers and divide by the coefficients on the x's. We are basically doing the algebra in our heads. For more examples, view the PowerPoint Presentations here.
