10/3/06 Pre Algebra

Students began class with a review activity, pages 147-149, #'s 1-15. Today's lesson focused on the coordinate plane, shown at left. Today students need to be able to:

1) Plot ordered pairs in the coordinate plane
2) Tell which quadrant an ordered pair is in
3) Plot 4 ordered pairs that create a rectangle and find its area
4) Give examples of ordered pairs that will work in an equation


We practiced the objectives on a worksheet, then students completed a graded assignment, page 144, #'s 11-29. We will be taking a test on Thursday, and the homework assignment is a review for the test.

10/3/06 Applied Geometry

We began today with a worksheet reviewing Friday's lesson. We went over the homework that was due for today together and then moved onto our new lesson. Today's focus is on the Triangle Sum Theorem, which states that the interior angles of a triangle add up to be 180 degrees. Our objectives are:

1) Give the Triangle Sum Theorem
2) Give the Third Angle theorem
3) Give the Exterior Angle Theorem
4) Find the measures of interior and exterior angles in a triangle

We completed a worksheet in class for practice, then students worked on our graded assignment. Video demonstartions and step by step solutions can be found here.
