9/21/06 Pre Algebra

Today we took the Chapter 2 Test. We began class with some review work out of the book, page 100, #'s 1-12 and page 101 #'s 1-10. We spent some class time reviewing for the test, then students completed the test. Afterwards, they had an assignment from the next chapter due for Monday.

Homework:
page 106-107 #'s 11-44

A link to my page is now on the front page of the school's website, go-geese.net. It is on the left hand side under 'Some Important Links'.

A very useful tool for those who take advantage of it. For a demonstration of how to graph a line in y=mx+b form, vist this link.

Click on the Video Link to the left of ' Example 2 ', to see a live demonstration. This particular video will help with 9/21 ' s lesson.

9/21/06 Applied Geometry

Students began class today with a packet introducing the concepts for today's lesson. (Sections 3.5 & 3.6-see the Geometry Book link in sidebar) We also graded the homework that was due for today. I outlined our objectives for the day which are:

1) Know the slope formula
2) Find the slope of a line given 2 points
3) Classify lines as parallel, perpendicular or neither based on slope
4) Use the slope and y - intercept of an equation to graph its line
5) Write the equation of a line given slope and y - intercept
6) Write the equation of a line given a point and a slope
7) Write the equation of a line given 2 points
8) Write the equation of a line that is parallel to a given line
9) Write the equation of a line that is perpendicular to a given line
10)Know the slope - intercept form of an equations ( y = mx + b )

I reviewed with them the slope formula and its use, how to graph equations of lines, and how to write equations of lines using y=mx+b and any given information. They practiced these objectives on a worksheet packet, which we will go over next time.
