Today in class we introduced/reviewed the idea of a variable, what it stands for and how to evaluate an expression involving a variable. Our objectives are to evaluate a variable expression, use unit analysis to provide correct units for our answer, and take a verbal model and translate it to an expression using numbers and variables that we can then evaluate. Students practiced these in class with a worksheet and we will test them with our 1.1 Lesson test on Thursday.
Homework due for Thursday:
Pages 6-8 #'s 20-30 even, 36 & 38. #48 can be done for extra credit.
Examples:
1)Evaluate 8x if x=7.
2)Give the amount and units for traveling 70 miles per hour for 4 hours.
